Celebrating 41 new and expanded programs in 2023

In 2023, the National CASA/GAL Board of Trustees approved the membership of 41 new or expanded CASA/GAL programs! Please join us in celebrating the 41 programs that started operations or expanded into new counties/jurisdictions, representing the growth of our network. New or expanded programs were completed in 20 states across the nation representing 29 rural programs, six suburban programs, five urban programs and one tribal program.

Local CASA/GAL programs provide the mission critical function of recruiting and training volunteers who provide best-interest advocacy to children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Children who are assigned CASA/GAL volunteers are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system, more likely to succeed in school and more likely to find a safe, permanent home. One of our greatest privileges is working with our network through the process of starting new CASA/GAL programs or expanding current programs into new service areas.

The partnership between National CASA/GAL, state CASA/GAL organizations and new or expanding local programs is an example of the strength and importance of the federated model and indicative of the unique role each entity plays in our collective pursuit of ensuring that every community is supported by a CASA/GAL program. Throughout the comprehensive new program membership process, a strong foundation is built and executed for children and youth to receive high-quality, best-interest advocacy consistent with the Core Model and National CASA/GAL standards.

We look forward to continued expansion of the national CASA/GAL network toward serving every eligible child and youth with our hallmark best-interest advocacy. Congratulations and sincere appreciation to the 41 new or expanded CASA/GAL programs!
