National CASA/GAL Book Club chats with “Between the World and Me” author Ta-Nehisi Coates

On Feb. 23, the National CASA/GAL Association for Children hosted The New York Times best-selling author Ta-Nehisi Coates in a thought-provoking virtual dialogue with hundreds of CASA/GAL state organization and local program staff from across the country to discuss his book Between the World and Me.

The National CASA/GAL Book Club’s current series is focused on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and allows CASA/GAL staff to reflect and engage in facilitated dialogue on topics that impact the children and families they serve. As the third installment of the Book Club discussions, Coates talked about what inspired him to write the biography and memoir with National CASA/GAL’s director of network marketing & communications, Jetaun Woodly, who served as the moderator. Leading up to the event, Book Club members participated in independent reading and group discussion, culminating in this special opportunity to hear directly from the author.

The final book in the Book Club series on DEI is The New York Times best-seller So You Want to Talk About Race by author Ijeoma Oluo.
