National CASA/GAL hosts special 40th Anniversary Day of Giving on June 7
NEWS
SEATTLE, Washington – This year marks an important milestone for the National Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Association for Children as we celebrate 40 years of impact made possible by the volunteers, partners and donors who have helped our nationwide movement grow to meet the needs of millions of children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect.
At this special time in our history, we are grateful to all of those who have helped us advance our mission. As we celebrate this special milestone, we know that there is still more to do. To bring more awareness and support to our critical mission, National CASA/GAL is holding a special 40th Anniversary Day of Giving on June 7, 2022. CASA/GAL supporters are encouraged to make a gift on June 7, as we aim to raise $40,000 to support the continued growth and development of our nationwide network. A matching gift challenge has been established by a generous donor, and every gift made on June 7 will be matched until we reach our goal.
Over the course of the last four decades, our network of state organizations and local programs has grown ten-fold, ensuring that today more than 240,000 children have a CASA or GAL volunteer in their corner as they navigate the child welfare system. While we are immensely proud that our focus on improving service quality while expanding the reach of our network has created ever greater impact for children, youth and families, we know that every 45 seconds a child enters foster care. We know the average child in foster care will have multiple foster homes, schools, social workers and teachers rotate through their life, even while dealing with the trauma of abuse or neglect. We also know that having a CASA or GAL volunteer can help to improve the odds for these children and make a life changing impact. Our work is not done.
The funds raised on this 40th Anniversary Day of Giving will strengthen our national network and advance our mission to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy for children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect. To make a gift, visit nationalcasagal.org/dayofgiving.
