SEATTLE–The National Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Association is pleased to announce the election of Nick Lebherz, general counsel at DoubleLine LP, to its national board of trustees.

“We’re excited to welcome Nick to the National CASA/GAL Board of Trustees,” said Tara Perry, CEO of National CASA/GAL. “With his extensive legal background and board service with CASA of Los Angeles Nick brings both a national perspective and local insight into what it takes to build strong, effective advocacy for children. Nick’s expertise will help guide our vision for growth and impact nationwide.”

The national board of trustees will benefit from Lehberz’s extensive service as a member of the CASA of Los Angeles’s Board of Directors. He first became aware of CASA/GAL during law school when his manager asked him to consider joining the Los Angeles board. Close to 10 years later, Lehberz continues to be dedicated to the cause, and has even recruited his former law school classmates as CASA volunteers, Perry added.

“At a time when children and youth in foster care need advocacy and human connection more than ever, there is no better organization than CASA to provide that care and support,” said Lebherz. “Having seen the impact firsthand through CASA of Los Angeles, I am honored to join the National CASA/GAL Board and continue supporting this vital mission to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in our communities.”

Nick Lebherz, based in Marina Del Ray, CA., currently serves as an attorney at DoubleLine Group LP, a position held since May 2016. Nick earned a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine Law between 2014 and 2017 and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Norwich University from 2010 to 2014.

The National CASA/GAL Board of Trustees is chaired by James (Jim) Rishwain Jr., Chair Emeritus, and partner at the international law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, where he leads the firm’s Real Estate and Construction Industry Group.

In addition to Lebherz, the board recently welcomed four other new members: Tawanna Brown, Rick Fezell, Earl Lariscy, and Ade Patton.
